Timber Tate and Devontae Cacok named Seahawks of the Week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We saw some big time performances on the hardwood this week as well for UNCW Basketball. There’s no doubt about it, our Seahawks of the Week are Devontae Cacok and Timber Tate.

It was a tough night for UNCW last Thursday night as they could not get past rival ECU in an overtime contest in Greenville. However, the Seahawks may not have been even in the game had it not been for #15.

Cacok tallied his fifth double double in the six games this year, bringing in 12 boards and scoring a career high 35 points in the game against the Pirates. The 35 points ranks fourth best overall in UNCW history.

Cacok and company will travel to LSU this Sunday.

For the women’s team, Timber Tate had career days this week as well.

In the game against NC Central, she had best numbers in points with 20, minutes with 30 and made field goals both inside and outside the arc. Not to mention she had career highs in three different categories against VCU.

Tate helped lead UNCW to wins in both contests and it was enough to catch the attention of the conference as she was named the CAA Player of the Week.

#14 and the women’s team only have one game this week as well when they travel up to Pennsylvania to take on Pitt.

Congratulations Timber and Devontae!
