Topsail Halloween game brings in more than $1,500 in donations

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — Tonight the Topsail Pirates began a new Halloween tradition, a game between the softball and baseball team and it’s all for a good cause.

While the Fall Classic is happening between LA and Houston, the Pirates had a fun scrimmage tonight and yes, those are Halloween costumes.

The school created the Halloween game as fundraiser for Share the Table, an organization based in Pender and Onslow Counties that feeds more than 850 people per week.

Topsail Baseball Head Coach Aaron Rimer says that the community supports the school and it’s time the school helps in return.

“We can’t do what we do without the community,” Coach Rimer said. “The community is big here and they’ve supported us for a long time and I’m glad to be a part of it. We have some really good kids here that like to do things like this and we’ll continue to do things like this.”
