Town of Carolina Beach to display coastal warning flags

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Carolina Beach will have the Coastal Warning Display/Storm Flag program at the Municipal Marina to warn the public of approaching storm conditions.
According to the Town of Carolina Beach Facebook, these nautical flags indicate changing weather from gale to storm to hurricane conditions, and Carolina Beach residents and visitors are urged to tune to National Weather Service radio broadcasts for the latest information when they observe one of these flags hoisted at the marina.
“For everyone living along the coast, these storm flags serve as a visible reminder of the destruction that can be brought by nature, especially as we head into this year’s hurricane season,” said Harbor Master Larry Denning.
