Town of Oak Island to hold ‘Mardi Gras by the Sea: Parade & Festival’

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Mardi Gras by the Sea: Parade & Festival will be held in the Town of Oak Island Saturday.

The parade is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. near SE 64th Street and will head West on E Oak Island Drive. The parade will end in front of Town hall on SE 46t Street.

From noon to 4 p.m. the festival will be held in the Middleton Park Complex just behind Town Hall.

There will be closures due to the parade. The Oak Island Police Department will direct traffic and close portions of E Oak Island Drive as needed.

Drivers are asked to follow all detour instructions provided by officers. Anyone using secondary streets like E Oak Drive, E Pelican Drive, and E Beach Drive are asked to slow down, stay aware, and watch from pedestrians and event participants.
