Traffic accident involving pedestrian causes backups on Carolina Beach Road

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The northbound lanes of Carolina Beach Road in front of Codington Elementary School were closed for hours Monday morning due to a traffic accident.

A pedestrian was crossing Carolina Beach Road and Orchid Street when he was struck by a pick up truck, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Police say the man suffered critical injuries but is still alive.

At this time charges not expected against the driver.
