Traffic Alert: Accident closes Wilmington intersection

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An accident Thursday morning closed the intersection of Wrightsville Avenue and Country Club Drive in Wilmington.

According to a release from a Wilmington Police spokeswoman, one person was injured in a single-vehicle accident around 8:30 a.m. He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center by EMS.

The man hit a power pole, which broke in half. All the lights at the intersection are off and there are low-hanging wires.

The intersection will be closed until further notice.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area while crews from the City of Wilmington and Duke Energy work to repair damages.
