TRAFFIC ALERT: Crash shuts down South College Road near Oleander
Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is directing traffic after a crash has shut down a section of South College Road at Peachtree Avenue.
The road is expected to be closed for several hours.
A Wilmington Police Spokeswoman the driver of a box truck was heading north when he veered off of the road, ran into one utility pole and cut it in half, then hit another utility pole and damaged it, before hitting a water main.
The driver did not get hurt.
Police say Duke Energy is now on the scene.

Traffic is being diverted onto Oleander Drive.
Drivers are being asked to use an alternate route. Police say no word yet on what caused the driver to veer off the road.
