Trask & West Bladen await playoff fate

ROCKY POINT, NC (WWAY) — Both West Bladen High and Trask High will likely be booted out of the football state playoff picture by the end of the week. Both teams likely see the handwriting on the wall due to a fight that occurred at Trask last Friday.

During the third quarter of Friday’s game a fight broke out on the field shortly after West Bladen made a two point conversion. Four Trask players were ejected from the game. Three West Bladen players were ejected.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association is expected to make a final ruling later this week to determine both team’s playoff fates.

The NCHSAA rule states that any team that has three or more players ejected for fighting in a single contest will be ineligible to participate in the state playoffs in that sport.

Trask currently has a 2-5 record with four regular season games remaining. West Bladen is currently 5-2 with four games remaining.
