Trolley coming to Carolina Beach
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Beach will have a trolley hitting the road this summer. Their town council gave the green light for the idea tonight. This idea was born out of those iconic Wilmington trolleys you see around downtown.
The Carolina Beach town council heard a proposal Tuesday from Wilmington Trolley Company that would bring one trolley to the island during the summer months. Their plans to expand into Carolina Beach have been in the works for years, and are finally becoming reality
“Basically the trolley will just be transportation, fun transportation. It’s an open air trolley so it’ll be out in the summer. You can see the sites as you’re going along and just have good transportation around the island,” said Wes Moore, Owner of Wilmington Trolley Company.
The route the company plans to use will run from N. Lake Park Blvd. down toward the boardwalk but town staff will have the final say on that. The trolley company goes in front of Kure Beach’s town council next week. The cost is just two bucks per person, per stop.
