Trump brings ‘Thank You Tour’ to NC
FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Tonight President-elect Donald Trump is making a stop in the Carolinas to thank his supporters and lay out his plan for the country.
Doors at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville opened at 4 p.m. with anxious supporters. Some began lining up as early as 8 a.m. despite the rain.
The event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Click here to watch it live.
Many supporters are wearing the red hats reading “Make America Great Again,” the same hats worn during the campaign, along with shirts and other Trump support gear.
One woman we talked with who came from Pembroke says she supports Trump because she believes he will tighten the budget and help the working class.
“I’ve got three kids and one on the way,” Angie Lowdry said. “It’s hard to get help. If he takes a lot funds away where they’re sitting at home on the couch watching TV and make them work, it makes easier for families like me that actually do work.”
Many people we talked to said they hope this event will bring people from both sides together.
Everyone who signed up for this event also received a contract which went over the plan for Trump’s first 100 days in office, which many hope he will cover tonight in his speech.
“I had the opinion we were heading down wrong road,” Martha Blake said. “I think he is our biggest hope to turn things around, and according to contract, that’s what he’s going to do.”
There was a protest scheduled on Facebook with roughly a dozen people signed up to protest Trump’s “Thank You Tour” this evening. With barricades and police extra tight, many feel they are prepared for anything.
