Two arrested in connection with Carolina Beach Road shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting last weekend on Carolina Beach Road that left one man seriously injured.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, detectives obtained warrants for 27-year-old Xavier Tyrek Bellamy and 40-year-old Elizabeth Jeannine Cobos as part of the ongoing investigation. The warrants were served with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
Bellamy is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy, robbery with a dangerous weapon conspiracy and failure to appear on a felony. He received a secured bond of $500,000.
Cobos is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy and robbery with a dangerous weapon conspiracy. She received a secured bond of $50,000.
The charges stem from a shooting reported just after 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the 3700 block of Carolina Beach Road.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders provided aid before the victim was transported by EMS to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Police said he sustained serious injuries.
