Two Camp Lejeune Marines charged with rape in Surf City

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Surf City Police Department has arrested two men for rape. The suspects, both stationed at Camp Lejeune, were taken into custody without incident and are being held without bond, according to a news release.

The suspects have been identified as Ted Arthur Davis, 23, and Rylie Tate Petrosky, 20. Davis faces charges of first-degree forcible rape, felony conspiracy, and providing alcohol to a person under 21. Petrosky has also been charged with first-degree forcible rape and felony conspiracy.

The alleged crime happened on September 14. The men were arrested on Friday. A bond hearing for both suspects is scheduled for Monday.

“We take these charges extremely seriously and remain dedicated to seeing that justice is served,” Surf City Police Chief Ron Voorhees Voorhees said. “Our department, in partnership with other law enforcement agencies, worked swiftly to conduct a thorough investigation, bring appropriate charges, and ensure the safety of our community.”

According to the Surf City Police Department, the suspects were known to the victim, and the incident is being treated as isolated with no ongoing threat to the public. The victim is receiving support from a Victim’s Advocate.
