Two charged after man hit in head with hammer and robbed
Georgetown, S.C. (WPDE) — Two individuals have been charged in connection with the robbery of a Hemingway man earlier this week.
According to a news release from Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery on August 29, 2017.
Early reports were that a man had been struck in the back of the head with a hammer and robbed.
The Sheriff’s Office report states that the suspects in the robbery stole a truck and fled.
After the suspects were identified, arrest warrants were issued.
According to an incident report from Horry County Police Department, an officer was patrolling in the Galivants Ferry area when they saw a truck matching the description of the stolen truck out of Georgetown County.
The officer initiated a felony traffic stop on the truck.
Incident reports say all occupants were advised to show officers their hands. At that time, one of the suspects attempted to leave from the passengers side of the truck.
That suspect was advised to stop where he was, but instead he ran into nearby woods.
Officers said they chased the suspect, but he was able to cross “two separate barbwire fences,” which eventually caused the officers to lose sight of him.
The Horry County Police Dog Team was called to track the suspect, but the dogs were initially unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, the constable detained the two women in the truck.
According to the report, one of the women, the driver of the truck, had outstanding warrants through Horry County and she was placed under arrest.
Authorities determined that the other woman “may be co-defendant” of the male suspect in the Georgetown incident, and she was placed under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Both women were taken to Horry County Detention Center and booked.
The woman with outstanding warrants has been identified as Natalie Smith, 28, of Aynor.
She faces unrelated charges for forgery, receiving stolen good sunder $2,000, and failure to appear. She remains incarcerated as of September 1 at 5:45 p.m.
The woman who was determined to be the co-defendant of the male suspect was transferred to Georgetown County.
According to Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, the male suspect was later taken into custody. Information regarding his arrest has not been released.
Both now face charges in Georgetown County.
Dallas Ashley Thomas, 37, of Hemingway, has been charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and grand larceny.
As of September 1 at 5:45 p.m., Thomas remains at Georgetown County Detention Center.
Hannah Danielle Graham, 18, of Galivants Ferry, has been charged with accessory after the fact.
