WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two men in Wilmington were arrested following an alleged robbery and assault at a local hotel on Thursday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, units responded to a business robbery in the 200 block of Eastwood Road Thursday morning just before 6 a.m.

They say that two male suspects had entered the back door of the Suburban Studios Extended Stay, stolen and cracked the safe, taken money, and proceeded to rob and assault the clerk with a blunt, sharp object. The suspects also destroyed surveillance cameras in the business and ran away with stolen ice cream.

Officers then received a call about two men trying to break into a toolbox behind Home Depot.

When units arrived, they located Dustin Wilburn, 38, who had fallen near a retention pond.

The second suspect, Noah Hite, 27, fled the scene but was later taken in.

WPD says officers located evidence that implicated the men as the suspects in the robbery case, including the safe, cash, and open ice cream, among other items.

Both men are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy, safecracking, 2nd-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting/delaying/obstructing.

They are being held without bond at the NHSO Detention Center.
