Two charged following shooting on Darlington Avenue in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people face charges in a shooting on Darlington Avenue after Wilmington Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert Tuesday evening.
According to a news release, police were dispatched to the 200 block of Darlington Avenue shortly after 7 p.m. Officers quickly located a suspect, later identified as Zymhec McNair, 19, in the 100 block of Darlington Avenue. As McNair was being taken into custody, he ran off, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
After a brief pursuit, McNair was arrested. Police say a firearm and a red hoodie were found nearby in a tree line. McNair faces several charges, including Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction, Discharge Firearm in an Enclosure, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting a Public Officer, Injury to Real Property, and Injury to Personal Property. He is currently being held without bond at the New Hanover County Detention Center.
Police say a second shooter had fired a weapon on Darlington Avenue before officers arrived. Police arrested a 17-year-old suspect with an active secured custody order on charges of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
