WILMINGTON, NC (WWAYY) — Two people have been charged with child abduction after a child went missing Thursday night.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, as the result of the incident that took place last night, Larnell Simpson, 45, and Victoria Corey, 25, returned to New Hanover County and are currently being held with no bond at the New Hanover County Detention Facility.

Both are charged with 1st Degree Kidnapping and Felony Child Abuse.

This incident began when a court order signed by a judge ordered the infant in question to be placed in DSS custody. The court found significant concern expressed by medical professionals and DSS and ordered this in the interest of the infants’ well-being. Simpson and Corey fled the area knowing about the court order. The pair, along with their child, were located traveling west on I-40 in Duplin County at mile marker 368.
