Two charged with kidnapping and human trafficking after missing woman rescued

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two people face charged following a human trafficking investigation.

On January 30, the Coastal Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force arrested Dartez Faulk, 31, and Rosalind Comfort, 48.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, a missing person report was filed last month for a woman last known to be in the Wilmington area. Investigators say commercial sex ads were found featuring the victim. The sheriff’s office says the victim was being held for ransom and forced to see commercial sex dates for her captures financial benefit.

The Coastal Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force, which consists of New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, Homeland Security, and NCIS, recovered the victim.

Faulk is charged with one count of 1st degree kidnapping, five counts of human trafficking, and 18 counts of promotion of prostitution.

Comfort is charged with one count of 1st degree kidnapping, five counts of human trafficking, and two counts of promotion of prostitution.

They are being held in the New Hanover County Detention Facility on a $2 million bond.
