Two facing drug charges after traffic stop in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people are facing drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred early Tuesday morning.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers observed a vehicle in the 900 block of South 10th Street without a functioning brake light. When officers pulled over the vehicle, they observed an open container located in plain view. Following a search, officers located drug paraphernalia, 2.9 grams of fentanyl, and thirty-two containers holding approximately .10 grams of crack in each one.
Kelvin Hankins, 57, is charged with PWIMSD Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling Controlled Substance, M/S/D/P Controlled Substance within 1,000 Feet of Park, Open Container Alcohol Violation, and No Operators License. Hankins is being held under a $7,500 secured bond at the NHSO Detention Center.
Julie Strickland, is charged with Felony Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She is being held without bond at the NHSO Detention Center.
