‘Two Lights for Tomorrow’ will shine in communities across North Carolina Friday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Friday marks 250 years since Paul Revere’s midnight ride and the beginning of the American Revolution. As part of a national observance called “Two Lights for Tomorrow,” historic sites across North Carolina are participating in symbolic lighting displays.
In Wilmington, the Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens is joining the initiative by placing two lanterns on its front porch.
Taylor Klauk, House Manager at the Burgwin-Wright House, explained the site’s involvement.
“As a colonial site we are definitely interested in celebrating this history, but also it is a national collective to remember, to celebrate, and serve our American history,” Klauk said.
The event is part of America 250, a national campaign leading up to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Communities across the state are being encouraged to take part by illuminating buildings and leaving porch lights on.
Other participating sites in the region include the Battleship North Carolina, which will display two white lights from the ship’s aft superstructure and red, white, and blue uplighting on Friday night.
Topsail Island will also mark the occasion by lighting its Assembly building and hosting a drone light show featuring images of a sea turtle, ribbon, and the year 1776 above the beach.
