Two men arrested following Halloween home invasion

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people were arrested following what police call a violent home invasion.

Just after 11:00 p.m., on Halloween, the Wilmington Police Department responded to the 300 block of South Kerr Avenue.

Police say, masked individuals who were armed with guns and a crowbar forced entry into the victim’s home while they were asleep.

Then, the victim woke up and was assaulted, and robbed of money, jewelry, and a safe.

After investigating, detectives identified 27-year-old Torrelle Shaw-Johnson and 18-year-old Selwyn Davis.

Shaw-Johnson was later taken into custody by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at his residence. He is being charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, kidnapping 2nd degree, 1st degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit felony larceny, assault inflicting serious injury, safecracking.

Davis was arrested at the Probation Office and is charged with 2nd degree kidnapping, 1st degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy, assaulting inflicting serious injury, safecracking, and felony probation violation.

Both suspects are being held without bond at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
