Two people, including teen, rescued from water near Snow’s Cut Bridge

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two men, including a teen, were rescued from the water near the Snow’s Cut Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The Wilmington Police Department said members of the Maritime Task Force Unit, a NHSO First Sgt. and a WPD officer, were patrolling the area of Snow’s Cut Bridge around 1:45 p.m. and noticed two men in distress, trying to keep their heads above water in the strong current that was pulling them under.

They were able to pull the two men out of the water using a throw line, according to WPD.

Police say one 13-year-old boy had been swept under while playing in the water, and the second man — who was fishing nearby — went in to try to save him but got swept under as well.

EMS was called to the scene and cleared the teen.

Police say there was a language barrier for both men, and the older man left before providing his information.
