Two people charged with 1st degree murder make first court appearances

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people charged in a Wilmington murder appeared in court Tuesday morning.

Tyler Collins and Austin Ziglar face 1st degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon charges in the death of 63-year-old Cedric Atkins.

Collins appeared in court first, followed by Ziglar.

The body of Atkins was found on Friday, May 2nd, in the woods near Hurst and Clay Streets in Wilmington.

According to arrest warrants, Collins and Ziglar stabbed Atkins to death and stole his cell phone.

They are being held without bond.
