Two people hurt trying to assist injured dog in Durham
DURHAM, NC (AP) — Authorities say two people were struck by an SUV while trying to help an injured dog at an intersection in Durham.
Police tell local media outlets that a man and a woman were hit at about 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Officers say the man saw that a dog had been hit by a car and flagged down a nearby woman for help.
An SUV then struck the man, woman and dog. The dog was killed. The man and woman were taken to a hospital to be treated and are expected to survive.
Police say the accident is under investigation.
