Two seniors go ‘over the edge’ in Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Friday we saw WWAY’s Helen Holt and Randy Aldridge go over the edge in Wrightsville Beach.

Saturday, at least sixty more took the climb down, including Dene McIntosh and Jim George.

McIntosh and George had their very first repelling experience Saturday to help raise money for DREAMS of Wilmington.

These two residents from the Plantation Village retirement community, are both in their seventies.

Don’t let their age fool you. As their custom shirts said, ”We’re over the edge… Not over the hill.”

Both made it down the wall with relative ease and they both said it was a great experience.

“When you get to be my age, you might as well do what you want.” George said.

“I’m excited that I can still do things that I enjoy doing,” McIntosh added. “I’d like to say a big happy birthday to my husband Joe. Today is his birthday.”

These two, along with all those living in Plantation Village wanted to show everyone that just because they retired, they’re not retired from doing activities.
