Two Southport firefighters injured in weekend house fire

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Two Southport firemen are recovering after being injured battling a house fire.

The Southport Fire Department responded to a home along Long Beach Road late Saturday night. Two firefighters were injured on scene, according to Fire Chief Charles Drew.

Drew said that one fell through the floor and injured his leg. The other passed out from over exertion. They were both treated on scene, and are now doing well.

Fire officials cause was ruled electrical, and the origin was in the master bedroom.
