RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — US. Attorney Michael Easley Jr. announced Wednesday that he is stepping down from his position on Monday.

During his tenure Easley launched a Violent Crime Action Plan with formal coordination sites in Raleigh, Fayetteville, Wilmington, Rocky Mount, New Bern, and the Albemarle region.

Former President Joe Biden nominated Easley to the post in the fall of 2021 but President Donald Trump wants to appoint new US attorneys throughout much of the nation.
