UNC Board of Governors tours UNCW

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The UNC Board of Governors and UNC President Margaret Spellings are in Wilmington today to tour UNCW.

It is part of a tour of all 17 campuses in the UNC system across the state.

The BOG started at the UNCW Center for Marine Science this morning with a presentation from Chancellor Zito Sartarelli. After that, they began a tour around campus.

Spellings said UNCW has a lot to offer and she said she is impressed with the way Sartarelli is making sure the university is more accessible and affordable to students.

“He is reaching out to almost every community college in the state that is a major provider of students here and making sure those pathways from community colleges into this university are very strong, that students are wasting time and consequently wasting money and that they’re very efficient about how they get their degree,” Spellings said.

Spellings also said an important part of each unc tour is meeting with students on campus.
Next, the BOG will be touring UNCG, NCAT, WSSU, AND UNC School of Arts on November 15 and 16.
