WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There’s a higher cost to higher learning in the Cape Fear. Fees at UNCW are set to rise, and some tuition rates may rise as well.

A UNCW spokesperson says the university provided the UNCW Board of Trustees with information about 4-6% tuition increase options, and the members voted to approve 6%, which will generate additional support for university priorities outlined in UNCW’s new strategic plan, without placing an unreasonable burden on students and families.
The board approved the 6% increase in tuition for out-of-state undergraduates and both in-state and out-of-state graduate students. There would be no increase for in-state undergraduate students.
If approved by the UNC Board of Governors, the changes would be in effect for fiscal year 2024-25.
The board also approved increases to fees, room and board, which would be in effect for fiscal year 2024-25. All actions are consistent with guidance from the Board of Governors.
