UNCW heads to CAA championship game
BALTIMORE, MD (WWAY) — The UNCW men’s basketball team is one win away from a conference championship and a trip to the Big Dance.
The Seahawks (24-7) beat Northeastern in the CAA semifinal 73-70 this afternoon at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore holding off a late rally by the Huskies.
UNCW’s win sets the stage for a match-up between the CAA’s top two teams from the regular season. The Seahawks, who are the tournament’s second seed, play top-seeded Hofstra tomorrow at 7 p.m. The Pride beat William & Mary 70-67 earlier in the afternoon.
If UNCW wins tomorrow night, it would clinch the first CAA title and NCAA Tournament berth for the Seahawks since 2006.
WWAY’s John Rendleman will report live from Baltimore tomorrow starting on WWAY NewsChannel 3 at 5 p.m.
