UNCW holds 75th spring commencement Friday and Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Several universities are celebrating its graduates this week. Friday is the start of UNCW’s 75th spring commencement. 

More than 2,000 seahawks are turning their tassel and taking the next step in their career over the weekend.

This year marks the first commencement featuring a ceremony specifically for graduate programs. More than 500 graduate students were honored on Friday at Trask Coliseum with hundreds of families and friends in attendance.

Stephania Bloodworth is the Chair of UNCW Alumni Association. She said Friday is a turning page for graduates.

“You honor the legacy of those who came before you and pave the way for future generations of seahawks. I’d like to express heartfelt gratitude to the class of 2024,” Bloodworth said. 

On Saturday, undergraduate ceremonies will take place for Cameron School of Business and Watson College of Education, College of Health and Human Services, and College of Science and Engineering graduates.
