WILMINGTON, NC (HAMMERHEADS) — Wilmington Hammerheads FC officially announced today that defender Troy Cole has agreed to a two-year deal with the club and will be returning to the squad for the 2015 USL PRO regular season.
“My experience at the Hammerheads has been nothing short of amazing and I am elated to now call Wilmington my home,” said Cole. “I am grateful to play with an organization that has so much to offer in terms of developing players, as well as providing service to the community.”
Cole appeared in 20 matches overall for the Hammerheads during the 2014 USL PRO season, also playing a key role off the field as an ambassador for the club at several appearances and events.
“Troy is one of a core group of players that thrived during a time of change within the club,” said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Technical Director and Head Coach Carson Porter. “He supported me, personally, and I am grateful for that, while also earning his spot at right back as we made our run into the playoffs. Troy also knows that the start of a new year means healthy competition for places and he is hard at work this offseason to continue to chase his personal goals and our team goals. I am happy for Troy and happy for the Hammerheads organization.”
Cole is also involved with the coaching and development of Hammerheads Youth FC players during the offseason months in Wilmington.
He originally debuted with the Hammerheads in 2012 before signing with former VSI Tampa Bay FC for one season. He tallied two seasons (2012-2013, 2013-2014) on the defensive line with Major Indoor Soccer League’s Rochester Lancers before returning to the Hammerheads again in 2014.
