UNCW men’s basketball ready for CAA tournament run

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–UNCW men’s basketball had a regular season to forget. The Seahawks went just 9-22 and 5-13 in CAA play, but Saturday brings a new opportunity for UNCW.

The Seahawks will begin the CAA tournament as the No.10 seed and take on the No.7 seed Elon Phoenix. Elon owned the regular season series over UNCW winning both game by seven points apiece.

UNCW knows the road to the NCAA tournament won’t be easy. In a format like the CAA tournament , you win four games, your into the NCAA tournament. It all starts on Saturday night against Elon.

“Everybody has their backs against the wall, everybody is trying to play as many games as they can to win the CAA championship. So, having to play that many games doesn’t necessarily chance how were going to try to play against them,”said UNCW head coach C.B. McGrath.

UNCW and Elon will tip-off at 6:30 P.M. on Saturday night from the North Charleston Coliseum after the conclusion of James Madison and Towson.
