UNCW selected as host site for the 2021 NCAA Soccer Championships
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–Men’s and Women’s soccer teams from across the national will be headed to the Cape Fear next month. It was announced this week the UNCW soccer complex will be one of the host sites for the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
UNCW will be one of five colleges from across the state that will be used as a host site throughout the first few rounds.
In addition to UNCW, the other campus venues include Campbell (Eakes Athletic Complex), East Carolina (ECU Soccer Stadium), UNC Greensboro (UNCG Soccer Stadium) and Wake Forest (W. Dennie Spry Soccer Stadium). The off-campus sites are Bryan Park (Greensboro), J. Burt Gillette Athletic Complex (Wilson), Sportsplex (Matthews) and WakeMed Soccer Park (Cary).
The announcement comes after a proposal was approved to have all 48 women’s and all 36 men’s teams that qualify for the NCAA Tournament play in the state of North Carolina.
The selections for both championships will be held on April 19, with first round games beginning on April 27th. The tournaments will conclude with the NCAA College Cups at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
