UNCW shuts down Navy 87-57

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — In their second game of the Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic, UNCW men’s basketball cruised to an 87-57 win over Navy on Friday.

The Seahawks started strong, eventually taking a 45-19 lead going into halftime.

Christian May and Patrick Wessler led UNCW with 17 points each.

“We really locked in to the game plan,” Head Coach Takayo Siddle said. “When you hold somebody to 33-percent from the field and you shoot the way that you did and you have the numbers that we had offensively, I won’t say it was flawless, but it was pretty close to it. Very proud of the guys. They deserve all the credit for it.”

“I like us against any team, honestly,” May said. “We don’t really focus on who we’re playing, we’re really focused on ourselves. If we have that mindset coming in, just focus on us, do what we have to do, I think we’re going to be good this year.”

The Seahawks next face Gardner-Webb on Saturday, which is Siddle’s alma mater.
