UNCW-Duke tickets on sale today; student/staff watch party planned for Thursday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW is getting ready to hit the road for the Seahawks’ first trip to the NCAA tournament in a decade.

Tickets go on sale this afternoon for UNCW’s NCAA tournament game against Duke.

Tickets will go on sale at 3 p.m. for students only, before the general public is able to buy them at 5 p.m. Anyone interested in purchasing a ticket for Thursday’s game in Providence, RI, which also includes the Yale-Baylor match-up, may call (910) 962-3233 or visit uncwsports.com.

Fans are invited to help send the team off Tuesday morning at the Trask Coliseum parking lot. The team is hitting the road for Providence at 11:15 a.m. sharp, the school says.

According to the NCAA, the Seahawks will be the first team in the sub-regional to practice at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence from noon until 12:40 p.m. Wednesday. If you’re making the trip, that and all practice sessions, including Duke’s practice at 1:30 p.m. are open to the general public.

On Thursday, UNCW will open up Trask Coliseum for faculty, staff and students at 11:30 a.m. ahead of the 12:15 p.m. tip-off between the 13th-seeded Seahawks and 4th-seed. The event, which will include halftime entertainment and pizza and beverages, is not open to the general public.

UNCW says if the Seahawks win Thursday, information will be released about another party for Saturday’s game against the Baylor-Yale winner.

The Seahawks learned their seeding and match-up against Duke last night after winning the CAA Championship a week ago. Thursday’s game is only the second contest between the two teams and first since a Duke win in Durham in 1982.
