Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — On Monday, incoming freshmen met on the Shoreline Sports Complex at UNCW for a photo before their annual Convocation.

They heard remarks from campus leadership and students from each of the universities five colleges.
“I only have one chance to make a first impression on you, and I hope it is a good one because all of you matter to me. Serving as UNCW’s Chancellor is my dream job, and I am so glad you are here,” said Chancellor Aswani Volety to the coliseum full of first-year students.
“If you remember nothing else from today, remember this: all of us are here to encourage, inspire, and lift you up. You are Seahawks and you are made to soar. The faculty and staff here are second to none – from UNCW’s very beginning, they created an environment that puts students first. With their help, you will graduate with a meaningful degree and the determination to chart your own flight path,” Volety said.
