UNCW’s Cacok named to All-CAA first team, Talley to third team


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW forward Devontae Cacok has earned All-CAA first team honors, while teammate Jordon Talley was named to the third team.

Cacok moved up to the All-CAA first team after receiving third team honors a year ago. The junior from Riverdale, GA, leads the nation in rebounding with 13.8 per game, an average that would be the best season mark in CAA history. His 413 rebounds set a UNCW season record and is the third-highest total ever in the CAA. Cacok was also eighth in the conference in scoring with 17.8 ppg and third with a 58.8 field goal percentage. His 22 double-doubles are the most in the CAA and the second-most of any player in the nation.

Talley, a senior guard from Richmond, VA, averaged 16.6 point and 5.8 assists per game this season.

The UNCW men’s basketball team, under first-year head coach C.B. McGrath 10-20 (7-11 CAA). The Seahawks are the 6th seed in this weekend’s CAA Tournament, which begins tomorrow in North Charleston, SC.

UNCW, which won the CAA Tournament and the conference’s bid to the NCAA Tournament each of the last two seasons, earned a first-round bye. They open action in the second round Sunday against No.3 seed Hofstra. The Seahawks and Pride split their season series.
