Undermanned South Brunswick drops playoff opener to Croatan 4-0

BOILING SPRING LAKES, N.C. (WWAY) — In the opening round of the NCHSAA boys soccer playoffs, South Brunswick fell at home to Croatan 4-0 on Tuesday.
The home side played with only ten players for almost the entire match after an early red card.
Just past the 12 minute mark, Croatan’s Tyler Thorpe crossed a kick into the box that slipped through keeper Lane Dodson’s grasp. Hugh Burton tapped it in to make it 1-0.
With around seven minutes left until halftime, Bennett Beaupre’s free kick was batted down by Dodson in midair. However, the ball was completely over the goal line when that happened and Croatan was awarded another goal.
