Dozens living near Chemours plant to have blood, urine tested for GenX
FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — Up to 30 people living near Chemours’ Fayetteville Works facility will have their blood and urine tested for the presence of GenX and other substances, state officials said.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services said it is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Bladen and Cumberland county health departments to test the samples.
The testing will look for 16 other per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS, officials said.
The testing comes after Chemours tested drinking water from wells near its Fayetteville Works facility. That testing was done at the direction of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.
