UPDATE: CFPUA says water main break fixed near Holly Tree

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority’s spokesman Mike McGill says water service for folks in the area of Holly Tree and Westchester is back up and running.

Early Sunday morning a water main break in the area caused issues for nearby residents. It took crews the standard time of around 4-6 hours to fix the break. In the mean time, those affected may have experienced low or no water pressure.

McGill says CFPUA has gone door to door notifying the eight homes now under a boil water advisory.

The official cause of the break is unknown.

McGill says age can be a large contributor to something like this but these pipes were relatively new.
