UPDATE: Commissioners approve Walmart shopping center for Porters Neck

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — Despite protests from nearby neighbors, it looks like Porters Neck will be the newest location for a Walmart Supercenter in New Hanover County.

 

The board of commissioners unanimously approved a request to approve a new 250,000-square-foot shopping center in the 8100 block of Market Street after more than two hours of debate and discussion. The board's approval rezones the land as a conditional zoning district highway business zone.

 

The center will be anchored by the 189,544-square-foot Walmart and will include nine other out parcels totaling 61,180 square feet.
