UPDATE: Man dies after crashing car into trees, jumping from bridge

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Officers with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department say the man who crashed into trees before jumping off of a bridge has died.

According to Lt. Jerry Brewer, EMS arrived to the scene Sunday morning under the Snow’s Cut Bridge to find an empty car. That’s when he says EMS heard the driver yell down to them from the bridge, “Hey, watch this.” According to Lt. Brewer, he then jumped.

He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries where he later died; there were no passengers in the car.
