USDA to scare away Cormorant birds from Surf City swing bridge

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Surf City Police Chief says the USDA will return to Surf City to perform some periodic work to try to scare away Cormorant birds this week.

Police said starting Monday afternoon the USDA will use commercial “fireworks” to scare the birds from the swing bridge area to encourage them to relocate.

Police said this work is done periodically and will be ongoing all next week.
