USO center director in Jacksonville no longer on the job
JACKSONVILLE, NC (AP) — The director of the USO of North Carolina Jacksonville Center is no longer on the job, and neither she nor the organization is saying why.
The Daily News of Jacksonville reports Deb Fisher’s last day in the position she held for more than five years was in February.
The USO website describes the Jacksonville location as the oldest operating USO center in the world. Construction on it began in 1941.
USO of North Carolina President John Falkenbury says the reason for Fisher’s departure is a personnel matter.
Fisher says the center was operating at a loss when she arrived and that the loss was cut by two-thirds.
