USPS opens new mail distribution facility in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — The U.S. Postal Service has moved into a new distribution center in Wilmington as demand for mail services continues to grow across the region.
USPS is leasing a 30,000-square-foot space in the former New River Pottery building at 5744 Market St., which will be used as a mail sorting facility.
Steve Hall, a commercial broker with Blue Coast Commercial and the listing agent for the property, said the new facility is expected to help ease capacity issues at nearby postal locations serving surrounding counties.
“They are just busting at the seams in all their locations and we’ve toured a couple of them as of late and they are definitely at capacity, hopefully you’ll start seeing some improvements in mail delivery here very soon,” Hall said.
Hall said USPS is already operating out of the facility. He added the site could potentially become a full-service post office if the agency decides to expand within the remaining available space in the building.
