Varnamtown launches paid parking at boat ramp
VARNAMTOWN, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Varnamtown is implementing a new paid parking system at its public boat ramp starting this season.
The policy is in effect from May 5, 2025, through October 15, 2025, with enforcement taking place daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Two separate lots have been designated for use:
-
The parking lot at the corner of Fisherman Road and Old River Road is reserved for Varnamtown property owners only.
-
The lot across the road from 32 Fisherman Road will be used for visitor parking.
Each Varnamtown property owner will receive one free parking permit per season per parcel.
Paid parking rates are as follows:
-
$40.00 per day for tandem vehicles (truck and trailer)
-
$20.00 per day for single vehicles
The town is also reminding visitors and residents that trailers are not permitted to turn around in nearby business parking lots or private driveways. Turnarounds are only allowed in designated town parking lots, and this policy will be enforced.
We have contacted the Varnamtown Town Council to request additional details, including how the funds collected from parking will be used and whether further changes are expected.
