Verizon works to restore service to customers

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Verizon Call Center in Wilmington is one of the many agencies working to keep the lines of communication open for folks.

They have been bringing in supplies and to join in post-storm efforts. The company has brought in the disaster recovery team to help those recover from Florence.

Verizon has also been working to refuel cell tower generators and restore service.

Representatives say their priority is to make sure people can communicate with each other and stay safe during this time.

“We’re reacting, we’re refueling, and we’re rebuilding,” said Chief Network Officer Nicki Palmer said. “On the sales and the consumer side, we offered free call, text and data to our customers to help them not have to worry about their bill.”

Palmer says they are partnered with emergency operations agencies and she says they are extending the period that they will waive extra fees.
