Vertex Rail construction causing River Rd. closure

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A NCDOT spokesperson said a portion of River Road near the port will be closed for ten days for railroad construction for the Vertex Rail company.

DOT officials said the part of River Road about a mile south of Shipyard Boulevard will be closed from August 10 at 8 a.m. to August 20 at 8 a.m. weather permitting.

The detour will use Shipyard Boulevard to US 421/Carolina Beach Road to Independence Boulevard. Drivers are urged to use alternate routes when possible.
