Veterans honored at Coastal Christian High School
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Coastal Christian High School has made it a tradition for the past ten years to honor veterans with a choir performance for Veterans Day.
Members from every branch of the military were represented this morning at the high school for their tenth annual Veterans Day program.
The veterans were joined by their families to come and listen as the school choir sang on the birthday of the United States Marine Core.
During the program, veterans were asked to stand for recognition as their name and picture was displayed.
Those who attended say that today is a great way to honor those who keep this country safe.
“Wherever your position is and you’re wearing a uniform, you’re one of the one percent of the nation that is preserving our freedoms,” Retired Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer David Foster said. “I think when all the kids at the school see that and they’re taught that, it continues to bring our history upfront and personal for them.”
Former Marine Core Staff Sergeant Victor Sizemore was one of those in attendance as he celebrated his 92nd birthday today at the event.
Sizemore said that it’s a great event with even nicer people.
