Video helps catch home break-in suspect
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Caught on tape and under arrest. The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says footage from a break-in helped them nab the bad guy.
Investigators arrested Matthew Walthall, 28, after they say he stole a flat screen TV and a digital camera from a home on Bridgeport Drive.
This B&E got interesting when the homeowners told detectives they had video of the robber wearing plaid shorts, a white shirt and dark gloves.
When Walthall came back by the house a few days later, deputies found the outfit and black gloves that the suspect in the video was wearing during the original break-in, so they arrested him.
Walthall is charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods. He was given a $12,000 secure bond.
